Partita per 2 violini (2001)

Gunnar Bucht writes:
Partita per 2 violini was composed in 2001 on the request of Duo Gelland. It is dedicated to this ensemble. The title invites to historic associations and that may have its reasons.
But more than that it should be interpreted literally as one longer scheme divided into many sections of contrasting characters following one another without breaks.
My oevre mainly consists of orchestral works.Therfore the full, orchestral sound of the partita will hardly surprise. But I would say, rather two violins sounding like the whole orchestra than the other way around.

...the generous colorful harmonies and their meditative refinement. The work leads the thoughts to a first rank fascinating string quartet.

It plays skillfully with gestures we know. There are the double punctures of the baroque and isn’t that a faint memory of Brahmsian colours and harmonies. All of it explodes in a virtuosic finale.
