| The technic he applies
is the one Henry James uses in turning the screw Skruvens vridning. Bit
by bit the tension is intensified. A constantly repeated material is put
under gradually increasing pressure. The violinists used their range of
colors and dynamics optimally. For me this dark piece evoked far deeper
personal associations of agony and depression than Allan Petterssons
sonatas. Yet Petterssons music is much more tense. Franzén
