Birgitte Alsted (born 1942 in Odense / Danmark)

Zweigeigen (2001)

Birgitte Alsted’s turbulent Zweigeigen is an expressive composition. It was inspired by the alarming political and social development of our own time. For the structure she uses measurements coming from Albert Dürer’s painting Melancolia I. There are richly varied color effects and passing scales fast as lightnings. The foundation of the work is an appealing almost romantic idea.
